    Check out our new rack!

So we've finally built our rack system. It can hold 10 juv tubs and 12 34-quart tubs. We are holding temps perfect with 4" flex-watt running to a Helix. We've also got a humidifier in the room. Hot spot is running 90-92, ambient is right at 82, and humidity is a stable 60%. Woot! We bought our flex-watt pre-soldered and cords attached already for an xtra $6 per 4ft piece. So if anyone wants more info on who we purchased from please send me a PM. I'd be more than happy to help! Here's some pix of the process. I hope to post more pix when it is completely done (screw covers in place, edging completed, all tubs in place). But you get the general idea. My boyfriend may post-the technical stuff. :o)

Great Rack! Do you actually have enough snakes to fill it or are future proofing for the addiction that you undoubtedly will contract?

    lol

Haha! Yeah, I have 12 sub-adults and about 6 juv's. I'm planning on filling the rest up here in the next few months. We'll have to make a hatchling rack next year!!! :o)

Is that diamond soft you're using for substrate?

    Nice rack too.

Sweet rack. I like the idea of using the built in tub covers rather than relying on exact tolerances of a rack to keep your snakes from escaping. If I was going to build one myself, that's probably how I'd go.

Love your rack. I like the way you intigrated in some of the smaller tubs for the younger kids.

    That... is an awesome rack!

Hopefully when I build one down the future... well... maybe I'll have to steal that type of idea from you!

    Great work!

Re: Check out our new rack!

I dont like using lids on tubs because I have had a few BPs that actually rubbed flesh off of their noses on some of the plastic parts on the lids... If the only thing over the top is melamine, it doesnt happen. I guess because it is smooth and/or there is less friction. I know some tubs have less dangerous lids than others, and some snakes rub against the top more/less than others, but I personally dont like to chance it. Am I the only one that feels this way?
