Homemade custom cage building
Hey everyone, I'm wondering if anyone here has any tips on how to build your own custom reptile (specificly ball pythons) cage. I know i need to water treat it with non toxic, oil free stuff and i have some good ideas about style, but what type of wood would i use and stuff like that. i'm looking for this cage to be big enough for two almost adult males around 3ft 6 in .

id start by checking out flea markets and stores that sell used furniture in your area. ive seen some mighty fine display cases that would work great as snake display enclosures with very few mods

You will need to build two seperate enclosures for two almost adult males, otherwise one will dominate the other and it will cause additional stress to both. Resulting in possibly not feeding all the way to canabilism. You could build a multi unit one or two smaller stackable units. I prefer using the laminate shelving board available at Home Depot or Lowes. Comes in 4', 6', and 8' lengths and 10", 12", 14" and 16" wide. All you have to worry about finishing on this stuff is the edges and to do that I normally liberally apply silicone over it and then paint it in child safe paints.
