    Talking Some BCA Pics (DUW)

Well I'm climbin' the walls at work and was going through my photobucket pics and decided it was a good day to post some pictures of my amaralis!

First up is Lola, an '06 South Brazilian from Barry Miller. She's sweet as pie, but always hungry. Growing like a weed lately too!

Dali Hissy-Pants does not want to be friends with me. She does however, like to hiss and bite. But she's tiny, so I forgive her. She's an '06 Kerry King-line South Brazilian.

Gretta-Monster (aptly named because she's a holy terror) is an '05 South Brazilian and is (in my opinion) visually perfect in every way. Her saddles are peaky and tiny, her tail is itsy, and her colors are ridiculous. But she's the meanest snake I've ever had the displeasure of meeting.

    A younger picture of her:

    Current shots:

And just to prove my point abour her ridiculous amount of rage, here's a shot I took through an air hole in her tub. Mind you all I'd done was gently remove her, have my boyfriend replace newspaper and spot-clean, then place her gently back in.

Sawyer is an '04 South Brazilian who came to us with cryptosporidium. He's lost a ton of weight since this picture was taken, but he's tested negative for crypto twice now! He's on the mend, WOOT! Best boa I've ever owned, he's a doll.

This is his most recent pic. Look how skinny he's gotten! He's putting the weight back on now and keeping his food down, so he's definitely on the mend, as scary as this pic looks:

Our other male is Patrick Kearney. Very mellow, unless you're food. This guy has a crazy feeding response! He's an '06 South Brazilian.

    Look at that FACE!

Next is Hollace Horatio, or Mr. H's for short. He's half Bolivian, half South Brazilian, but 100% awesome. He's still in that skinny little baby boa phase, but he's got SUCH cool saddles (and lack there of), and what a tail!

    Here's his "H"

Barbie is an '06 Blonde Bolivian. She's not the friendliest, but she doesn't hiss or bite, either. We got a good arrangement, Barbie and I.

And our newest addition, Olivia, our '04 Barnett line Bolivian. Just like Patrick, actually, she's a doll up until feeding time. She ate her first f/t rabbit this week! YAY!

Oh Gretta-Monster and Dali Hissy-Pants were little terrors right out of the shipping box. My avatar is actually the first picture I took of Dali in her little deli tub.

Dali's gotten better, she doesn't throw a fit anymore but she doesn't like to be handled, but Gretta's just always been a pain. She was stand-offish and defensive at first, and about two months after we got her, my boyfriend was holding her on his lap while I cleaned her tub, and she nailed him right in the face.

It's definitely not a typical amarali attitude, and I've noticed that most of mine have gotten sweeter as they've matured.

Lemme know if you're ever near Seattle you can come see them!

BCAs tend to be slow growers, and I think that only one of them is fully grown. Sawyer is about 4 feet long, and I'm pretty positive that's as big as he's going to get. Olivia is around 5 feet, but just barely. My gut tells me she's not done growing yet, but I don't really think she's going to be huge. Maybe 5 and a half feet or so, we'll see. She eats like it's going out of style, lol!

My friend has the South Brazilian mother of our little Hollace Horatio, though, and she's CRAZY huge. He does admit to overfeeding her when he was younger and more careless, but she's still pushing 8 and a half feet with a head bigger than my hand. She's the exception, though, they usually do stay pretty small but husky.
