Why do you post?

Do we all really need to "get a life"? I may be new to posting here, but I'm not new to forums. It seems that when anyone actually does "get a life" they stop posting. So, are we all just losers with no life?


I'm not trying to be an jerk. I'm just curious peoples thoughts on this.

I have a super busy life, two kids (one being very ill most of the time) i go to school and work and thats leaving out my 9 snakes, 1 dragon and 4 rats. I make time to post here thats all.. instead of boring myself with mindless tv i post here.

Interest in reptiles, but more than anything to relax after my life stresses me. I don't do a lot of serious posts because I am RELAXING!! I try to help when I can though. I work about 10 -11 hrs a day,in my SPARE time I work with horses, show dogs and collect antiques of all sorts. I go to sleep about 4 am and ! am up by 8:30 am. My doctor said I was doing too much and needed to drop some activities. So I dropped seeing him! The most wasted time of my life is waiting in lines or doctors offices!!!

P.S. school too!

Well, I'm a full-time college student so I don't completely lack a life... But, I post because it is my passion to help people take better and proper care of their pets, especially those of the scaly kind. Besides, years of experience caring for animals that have trickier needs than just 'feed and walk' should be shared.

I have no life. I'm old fat bald ugly and mean. Short too. So I go online to be mean to people I wouldn't dare talk that way to in real life.

Oh wait, that's what some folks SAY about me. Not to my face though, interestingly enough.

I figure I can be of assistance to some folks since I have a good bit of experience. There is also the amusement factor there. Some folks are just funny, whether they mean to be or not.

It's also good exercise for the mind. If you actually want to be helpful or contribute you have to figure out how to write what you mean which also makes you better at saying what you mean which makes you better understood by anyone who listens to what you have to say. Or reads what you write.

And I like words and letters.

I owe sites like this a lot. Much of my fish, plant, and reptile knowledge (the really practical bits anyway) came from forums and web content.

So, I try to give a little back. On reptiles I am still basically a noob, so I contribute more to site flavor and activity than actually helping people. I help when I can, which hopefully will increase as I learn

I also post to learn. I post what I am doing or what I think in the hope that I will get feedback - either good or bad - that will keep me moving in the right direction.

i definitely have no life. i just waste my time homeschooling my kids, publishing a magazine, teaching classes, spending an hour or two at the gym daily, caring for my 2 dogs, 6 cats, dozen snakes, 6 fish tanks, chameleon, fire belly toads, raising silkworms for two petstores and numerous online customers, doing admin for two forums, moderating on another... oh shoot... i have to go, this post is cutting into my "eating bon bons on the couch and doing nothing much of anything" time.
