    Gravid BP - possible trouble

The problem: Gravid female is lethargic, responds when touched by tensing but other than that she just lays there. Normally she'll jerk back if I touch her head but she just lays it in my hand when touched. She's not coiled up in any way and has not used either of her hides in three days. She almost seems depressed.

Is this normal for a gravid female? (This is my first breeding attempt) Should I be worried? Suggestions?

The set up: Boaphile enclosure, aspen substrate, 87 hot side, 82 cool side, 58% humidity, two hides

How long till she lays. Being gravid takes alot out of them so keep an eye on her. Old old of a snake is this and has she ever been bred before

I was told she was about 4 years old and never bred before. She just had her pre-lay shed about a week ago.

I've been keeping an eagle eye on her...I'm sure she is sick of me peeking in every ten minutes!

i would raise your hot side to 92-94 to be safe as ive found that a lack of heat at this stage can cause the female to retain the eggs for longer than usual.

Very true... I hear that colder weather in general (outside of the rack) can lengthen the process. I wish I had a link, but I am pretty sure its in a book I have.
