    Question Making a Rack?

Well, as you all very well know, once you buy one BP it's hard to stop , so eventually buying cages gets quite spendy and you start to look into rack systems.

Well, I have a few questions about possibly making a rack.
An idea came to mind when I saw one of these in our house, and I thought, "Could that be turned into a rack?":

[The dimensions of the unit in that pic are 11Hx11Wx14L, I don't think that's even an appropriate size for a full-grown BP though? I compared it to the dimensions of a Boaphile rack and the Width and length are quite a bit smaller.]

The thing is, it doesn't have dividers/shelves like most racks. Which brings me to the biggest question, will flexwatt burn a Ball? If I were to stick a piece of flexwatt to the bottom of the containers, could a BP lean up and burn itself on it?
And if it wouldn't be a problem but the size of the unit would be I could look into bigger ones if the flexwatt could work?

Also, the flexwatt won't melt the plastic will it?

And if none of that would work, would a regular plastic bin work? That has lids and such? Such as this:

The measurements of that are 7Hx23Wx17D.

I think I asked everything that I had questions about, sorry for giving whoever reads this so much to read

Thanks in advanced to anybody who responds

I was searching for tubs last night and saw these drawer units and wondered if they couldn't be modified myself...

The only thing I would watch out for is when you pull the tubs out, there is a space between the top of the tub and the inside of the rack. At least there are on some of the sterilite tub racks I have seen like that.

Putting heat into those could be an issue as well. The actual material of the rack is kinda flimsy. Also I don't know how well the white plastic will hold up to the heating element you decide to use, it could create a fire hazard!

    Re: Making a Rack?

We use those for hatchling birds at work and they're a pain. The plastic isn't quite as thick as a stand-alone tub, and when you pull a drawer out there is no divider so the animals are free to come and go as they please while the drawer is out. Also, like you said, the flexwatt would be accessible to the animal underneath. When I first got into snakes I looked at those (and they make some considerably larger which is what initially caught my eye) but I couldn't figure a way to make it work that I felt comfortable with. I think you're better off buying stackable shelving and doing it that way than to buy a set like that. Just my two cents.

That's what I was thinking, I wasn't sure if the plastic could hold up to the heat. I don't want to endanger my babies in any way

Yeah, I don't want to endanger my snakes. Do you think getting tubs like the 2nd pic would be okay?

I think that might be the better idea possibly..

    Re: Making a Rack?

I wouldn't bother with those stackable drawer type tubs that you have posted. I thought about trying them, but they looked to be too much of a pain to deal with. Heating would be hard, and they aren't very secure and I'd be worried about escapes happening way too frequently.
