What are good investments right now?

I purchased a male pied and fell in love with everything ball python. I am acquiring three adult females and will breed the pied to the norms next year giving me all DH (maybe I'll get luck and one "norm" will actually be a het for pied lol).

Anyway, I'll hold back all females and maybe 1 male. My second breeding season, I will re-breed all the norms and hopefully by this time my DH albino/pied python female will be ready to breed with my pied. Again, I'll get rid of males. My third season I hope my lavender albino pied hets will be ready to get it on. Again, I'll re-breed the norms and DH alb/pie to my pie. And the 4th season I hope to have some albino babies!

I'm NOT doing this for the money. But do you think selling off the male each season will be enough to pay for upgrades/new equipment?

Where do you suggest putting some money into right now? I know albinos will always hold their value to some extent...

Would appreciate any advice on my "breeding plan".

I eventually want to end up with:

    Lav Alb Pied
    Norm Pied
    Albino Pied

    And I also love:
    Caramels, VPI Ax's

I'm just not sure if it is better off to fork over the $$$$ right away for the pure recessives or DH's or go the long way at this point.

You need to approach this assuming you won't make any money. Because honestly, you probably won't. So get what you can afford to get and what you can afford to lose. I don't want to burst your bubble, but so many things can happen so it doesn't work out. Female lays slugs, you don't get the odds on your hets, she turns out to be a he, and so forth.

And selling off just males won't net you any money. Het males are cheap, so I wouldn't bank on just selling those to pay for things. As for paying money up front or going to long route, again, that's up to you. If you fork over money though, assume you'll never see it again. That's the best advice I can give you.

I dont get it. You have a homozygous pied male and 3 normals and will produce dubble het albino pieds and later on that albino will turn in to a lavender pied hets and on the 4th year your hoping to produce albinos?

I am lost as well. Breeding a homo pied to normal females will give you nothing more than het pieds. Where are you coming up with double hets??

I think you need to slow down are learn the basic genetics on what you are breeding and want to breed before you spend a lot of money.

To add to more confusion here he has a pair of het pieds for sale that is kinda messed up with possibilities from them. How could he have hets all ready as he said he was breeding next year for the first time. http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=64495.

To clarify, my pied male is a possible het for albino and my norm is a possible het for albino. This hasn't been proven out so my original post was a best case scenario. Now if the term "double het" is incorrect for piebald/albino then let me apologize.

Secondly, I do have het pieds 1.1 for sale. I recently acquired a lot of morphs and they came with the package, but I don't need them. I'd rather take the money to help re-invest in a caramel albino.

I really wish people were more friendly and supportive on here. And I'm not a guy, I'm a woman. People should stop assuming.

Hold on i just reread your add.You say that you are selling a pair of 100% het for pieds is this correct? Then why does your ad mention your PIED male that pos het albino and the normal female thats pos het albino? Your ad makes it sound like these are the parents
