    Getting Coolant Out of Fridge

Where do I get the coolant removed from my mini-fridge? I called appliance repair shop, landfills, and ac repair shops. No one does it.
    Thanks

Re: Getting Coolant Out of Fridge

Why would you want to remove the refridgerent from the fridge??
I am not sure what application you will be using your fridge for but if it is for an incubator, I use large up-right freezers for my incubators and I do not remove the coolant, because if I ever need to use it as a freezer again all I have to do is plug it in.....
Sorry if this is not what you were looking for....I just want to help out.....

there are local places that do it... you really just need to call around. easiest thing to do is call the places that sell appliances and talk to the guys that haul the old away. by law if you put something in the dump that contains coolant then it has to be drained first.. we have people that do it for us for $20 a unit...

if you cant afford to take care of it, dont get it

I did a bad thing with mine. I would suggest paying some one to do it for you.

I used to have a small refrigerator where the freezer would always ice up real bad and have ice built up several inches thick. I tried defrosting it once and tried to hurry it up but chipping out the ice with a knife. The knife went right into one of the coolant tubes and just like that, all the refrigerant was removed. It was easy. Probably not the recommended procedure though.

You also might try a place that sells and services air conditioners, they could probably remove it for you too.

You have to call an HVAC company or appliance repair company. Purposeful release of freon into the atmosphere can results in thousands of dollars in fines. In some states even accidental release can result in significant fines.
