I am a firm believer in feeding live prey to my bp Rico. It makes snakes much happier and active in my opinion. However I DO supervise every feeding and am ready to help if he gets a nasty bite. Otherwise I let Rico obey his animal instincts.
I feed him in his actual tank but remove his hide because it's bulky and gives him more room to feed and hunt. However I like to leave his water bowl and the small tree (replaced it today though) in there to let him hunt around it (once again to simulate natural hunting).
Sorry, was just giving some background info so there are no questions about what I left in the tank or to be careful with live prey.
