New Rat Rack!
I have all the materials now. I will begin the construction of my 1x7 rat rack tomorrow and will photo-document the entire procedure for your viewing pleasure! I'm using mortar tubs and basing it off of Bailey's rack. I will, however, be using a rodent watering system made of tube and stuff, instead of the PVC.

Don't give up! The first rack I built took me three times to finally get it right. I ended up spending twice as much on wood as I should have. Have Fun.

I agree don't give up! You can't succeed if you don't continue. I am sure it will be great in the end!

Re: New Rat Rack!
ok, for those of you that thought I was a quitter...I finished! I went out and bought new mortar tubs and guess what, the wrong size again...how is that even possible? well, then the rack itself is about as pitiful as it could be. every shelf is twisted like the tea and it wobbles and my wife says it looks like one of her kindergarten projects...I had to widdle about 1.5" worth of tub off every one...STILL I PERSISTED! through fire and flames I marched on! Now I have an incredibly ugly, wobbly, beautiful rat rack!
Let this be an inspiration to you all! Sorry, I gotta go, rats are escaping.

Tell me about it, on my rack every level you added, you were in danger of a different level falling apart. Mine is not beautiful and i Get escapes every now and then, but it works.

Re: New Rat Rack!
One thing you might want to do is in your 1x4 legs. Put 2 screws in about an inch or two apart. With just the one screw in the leg the legs will move around. The two screws 1 or 2 inches apart wont let it do that and should help with the wobble some. Just make sure the frames with the wire on it is level before you screw in the 2nd screw. If you go to your local hardware store or even walmart. If your dont have one. A Carpenter Triangle or some kind of level The triangle for me worked great. Use the triangle to make sure the frames are level or square with the legs. Start at the bottom or top. Do one then the other on each frame. Then when done with one side flip it over and do the other. Put one screw in then line everything up then put the 2nd in. Also make sure you pre drill your holes. So no splitting happens. Then when your done with both sides stand it up see what it looks like. You might have to cut a bit off each leg at the end. To make the whole rack level. Anyways hope that maybe helped some.
