Always check your cage clips folks!

I am now ashamedly a member of the snake-escape club. This morning when I got back from class, I went to clean my tubs and change water and... Jacob was not in his tub!! I must have forgotten to put cage clips on yesterday . He is so so SO precious to me so my brain immediately went to panicking and tearing apart my room. My door is always closed but has a sizeable crack underneath that he could possibly slide through, and I was terrified that he was somewhere in the house and I wouldn't find him for weeks, plus I am moving out of this place in around a month and a half so it's not like I could continually search for him. After making a huge mess out of ripping through my room I found him curled up under a blanket. THANK GOD I found him... and so quickly!! I guess the most important thing to do in that situation is to not panic, and to look first in the places he's most likely to be. But now I realize how hard it is not to panic when your beloved snake goes missing!!

So uhh, moral of the story, as usual, is always check your cage clips!! I'm just so relieved that I didn't lose my precious Jake!!

The first rule of Snake Escape club is...you check the clips/locks...

The second rule of Snake Escape club is...you admit you messed up and hang your head in shame...

Re: Always check your cage clips folks!

Thank goodness you found him. Sometimes, depending on the kind of cage you have, cage clips are not always the problem. Take our kingsnake for instance. I had him in a cage that used to be in habited by my leopard gecko. Since the gecko had no chance of slipping through a small gap between the cage top and the cage frame, I didn't think much of it when it housed her (the cage originally had one of those tops that slide in so when I used a regular top, there was a small gap), but when we moved our small king into the cage, one week later, he went missing, and we haven't found him yet. We've kind of given up. So always check to see what kind of cage you have and what kind of top you are using also.
    Under Construction.....
