    Mites?

    Hi All!

I have recently added a royal to my small collection and need a little bit of advice. I aquired the little fella last week after being told by the place I got him from that he had a damaged vertebra and they wouldnt be able to sell him. He also had quite a few raised scales but still took him on.

The store told us that he was a good feeder, but he rejected his first feed here. I put this down to him being in a new place and he will eventually eat. Today I have noticed that he has mites which probably explain the raised scales and possibly part of why he didnt eat.

Anyway we have contacted the store to advise them of the mites because he was kept with other snakes in there (dont want others to be sold with mites). We have some treatment for mites but I think it may be for an older snake as I'm presuming he is under the reccomended weight. Other than bathing him is there any other way that I can help get rid of the mites?

We've thrown out all bedding and scrubbed the tank down.

    Hello!

The best products to get rid of those little monsters are PAM (provent a mite) and Black Knight...
Just remove your baby, and the water dish, spray the enclosure LIGHTLLY... let it completely dry... and replace your BP and his water dish. Also it's best to used paper towels as bedding... less places for the mites to hide! You might not find these products locally, here is a link Google found...

    Hope that helps!
Grey Scale is a good thing...

PAM is a life saver! I would also advise you to take your new animal to a Qualified Snake vet for a check up and if he is actually still healing from the damaged vertebrae, or just a check up in general.
