I'm thinking of getting a corn, a question?

Mainly I would like to know how friendly they are. I can look up caresheets elsewhere. I've seen a lot of people with them on here, and they look awesome.

Can you hold them like a BP?

My BP Vincent is so acceptable. I've had to twist and turn him to look him over, fix some shed and check for mites, mess with his head, etc... and he hasn't struck at me once. He gets kinda annoyed, but never attacks.

It looks like you can, but that's pretty much my only question.

I've found corns to be "slither-ier" and fast, exponentially so when babies. I'm just now really starting to enjoy holding my corn, who is 18 months old or so, as he's "slowing down" his slither speed and is more apt to hang out for a few seconds here and there. =)

I held an adult corn a year ahead a go or so who was about 6 years old at the time. Granted she was the owner's "baby" and original snake, she was a wonderful snake to hold, so mellow, so I'm hoping my guy will continue to mellow out.

Best lap snake I own - definitely the boa. Neither the burm, ball nor corn will ever chill out as easily nor hang out as long as the boa will. =)

The size of an adult boa depends first on the species of boa and then the gender. There are smaller boas and then there are bigger boas and you can learn more about them in the Boa section. =)

If, however, cost maintenance is an issue, corns make a great addition as they are generally less expensive, have easier husbandry requirements and eat smaller, cheaper prey. I love my orangey boy and I'd say he's the easiest of the four species I keep to take care of (not like any of them are hard...but there are differences). =)

Corns are sweet and so easy to care for next to balls. The babies are fast and jumpy, but with some good patience they should calm down. I don't know if this is just me, but I have noticed that adult male corns are a LOT nicer than the females. Getting an adult is a lot easier, and you can find one that likes you and is used to handling.

I personally haven't noticed any behavior differences between males and females. But babies are definitely more jumpy than yearlings or adults. Nothing at all like a baby bp. But once they get to be 6 mos or so, the settle down a lot. But even then they're way more active in my hands than the bps. The bps will just settle down and not do anything where as the corns are always on a mission.

Both are great snakes; I can't recommend a corn enough. They're too often over looked as "just some beginner snake".

Although many big-time Boas are +6 feet snakes, there are some Boas that don't even reach 4 feet (and don't cost too much to care for either). Among the easy boas are the Kenyan Sand Boa and the Rosy Boa, and both of them are about as easy to care for as say, a Western Hognose.

when i had corns i had them for like 2 years... like a year ago i sold them... they were pretty fun, active things tho i'll tell yah... deff good lil snakes tho...

Ooo Rosy Boas are cute little things. I would have one, but a) no space. b) my BF thinks they're ugly (and I listen to him since we live together).

Just remember that Boas have to be kept separate from Pythons just in case, and at least have to be in QT for a while. I only QT my corn snakes for a month as opposed to the 3-6 months for boids.
