Using other peoples male for your female and her clutch
Hey everyone. I know I'm pretty green to the whole breeding thing so maybe somebody can offer some information about stud service (or at least that's what it's called with dogs). Heres my thing, I have a het albino female that will be ready for breeding this winter and I would preferably like to find a decent priced albino male for this winter but not sure that 1. I will be able to find one decent priced or 2. I will be able to find the funds to do it this year. What I'm wondering is, is it common to find someone that has an albino male that will allow you to use it to copulate with my female. If so what is the standard fee, how would I go about finding someone to do this? And what is it called? Alright thanks guys.

It is called a breeding loan.
You must make sure you have a very detailed contract when doing a breeding loan.
It should include things such as
Who will be responsible if something happen to the animal etc.
Who gets what, how will the clutch be split, who gets the odd number, who gets the first pick etc.
And much more.

It is great as long as you really trust the person you are doing it with. I wouldnt do it with someone I had only known for a few months. And usually people split the clutch somehow as payment.

If you can't get a breeding loan why don't you just get a het male. Right now there almost as cheap as a normal.

This is the way to go I think I saw het Albino males for less than $100.00. If you were looking at a breeder loan in which you pay for it outright you probably will pay more than that for an Albino! Also now the health and well being of the snakes are all under your control and you do not need some complicated contract!

Yeah it's just I don't want to pay for another normal looking ball. I love the albinos so that will be my next ball regardless. It's just a matter of if I find the right one at the right time and I'm just trying to think of some other options in case.

I have done breeder loans before, and as long as you do them with someone you can trust, its usually not a problem.
IF you find someone, let me know, and I can send you a copy of the loan agreement I had with one of my loans.
The details of the breeding loan are usually formed between the two people involved, but most of the time, the less expensive animal comes to the person who has the more expensive animal (in your case, the female would go to the person who has the albino).
It has always been a beneficial thing for me, and has helped me jump start a couple projects I hadn't gotten into before.
Good luck in your decisions!

Once a Het Albino male was to breed and be proven to have the albino gene through photography. (Picture of a lock, Mom with eggs, eggs in incubator, and babies when born.) the value of the het should go up as it is a proven breeder then. With that said you could use it to make your albino then sell it off later for at least as much as you paid for it if you keep your documentation in check!
