    Pictures of a Rescue JCP

This is Pete, our new jungle carpet python, we got him on saturday and he was in a tiny 40 gallon, we've since upgraded. Here are some pictures of him in his new domain, he's about 6.5 feet and looks pretty healthy for not having eaten since december 19th 2007!!!

He does look nice for having not eaten in a while.

But, I think you have a jungle x coastal cross.

    Jason,
Very nice. Yes, he's big. Let us know when you get him out. Next, I want to hear how it is to handle him.

    Mike,
What makes you think he's a jungle x coastal? The coloration inside the black?

Well, he's a little hissy when we go to take him out, but once he's out of the tank, he's an absolute pleasure to hold. My girlfriend, who is 5' 3" loves him and she's not even a little scared.

Also, what makes him a cross? what are the differences between jungle carpet and jungle x costal?

It is kinda hard to explain. Once you have looked at literally tons of carpets, you start to be able to spot the crosses.

Coastals (M. s. mcdowelli) are the largest of the carpet pythons growing to 10 ft. plus. They are basically a scrub and coastal environment python. They tend to have more earthtoned colors.
Jungles (M. s. cheynei) have sometimes been described as a rainforest coastal carpet. They are a bit smaller and range from 4.5 ft to 7.5 ft. These are typically black and yellow carpets.
