Windy Weather

We are under a wind advisory. Because of recent rain, the ground is wet and the winds could get up to gusts of 57mph. The advisory is saying the winds could cause damage and downed trees. I have trees very close to my home and powerlines are right above my backyard.

I'm worried either a tree will hit us or the powerlines will go down and we will be out of power. So in case of power outage, what would be a good plan of action to keep the reptiles warm. Its 66 outside. I'm about to go to work and won't be home till later tonight and my fiance won't be home till 8 or 9. If the power does go out, will the snakes be ok until we get home?

I am in Va and it is windy as *beep* out there.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the power going out for a bit...as long as you are not incubating.

And really...unless you have a generator...there would be nothing much you could do anyways.

when the power goes out here, i put a hot/cold pack under really warm water, put it in a zip lock, then throw it in with the snake. you have to warm it up frequently, but it's better than nothing. otherwise maybe those hothand things. i know some people ship snakes with those in the box...i hope your power stays on!

I have a lot of those instant warm packs; some are 24 hour, some are 48 hour and some are like 64 hour. In the event of a power outage I would activate one of them, put it into an old sweat sock (to avoid burning the snake since they get hot) and put it into the hot side of the tub.

Not saying there is anything wrong with using the heat packs but if you don't open the tubs and they are in a well heated enviroment all of the time...It is unnecessary. imo.

I have had power outages in my home before and the temps in the tubs never drop more than a few degrees. Nothing that they couldn't handle. And I am talking about more than 24 hours without power.
