    Breathing Problems

I have a Ball python which is breathing through its open mouth.
It appears to have an excess of saliva in its mouth, bubbles appearing.
I have raised the temperature of the viv and placed some menthol in the viv. I have removed the water dish.
The snake is now isolated from the rest of my collection.
Scanning through my reference books it looks like some kind of respiratory infection.
The snake has recently been shipped to me, and when it arrived it was cold. Could it have been the shipping that has stressed it out and if so what else can I do to improve the situation

    Re: Breathing Problems

Your snake needs to see a vet immediately for antibiotic treatment. It definitely sounds like an URI and is often fatal without treatment. The stress of shipping and cold could have progressed the illness, but it more than likely had the infection before shipment if your snake came to you like that. While you're waiting for an appointment, you can bump up the humidity and increase the temps.

    Good luck!

Sounds like an URI... get to a vet ASAP!! That is what happened to my bp when I received him, he was COLD. Bump the temps on the warm side to about 94. keep your BP warm.

    good luck...

Get your temps up to the mid 90's and get to a vet fast and get used to giving him injections.

Also not too sure about having the menthol in there, you may want to ask the vet about it and take it out til then. Definitely sounds like an RI to me though.
