Switching to tubs. How do I regulate the heat?

    Hey

I decided to switch to a tub. I only have one BP right now, but plan on getting few more. Don't need a rack yet. The question I have is...how do I heat the tub?

    I currently have: 1 lamp, 2 UTHs, 2 thermostats, 1 dual thermo/hydrometer, 1 thermometer with probe, 1 dual thermometer/hydrometer with probe.

My BP is 25 inches and 230 grams.

What size tub should I get and do I just attach the UTHs to the tub? One at the colder side and the other at the warmer? Or do we not need this with tubs?

I would use a 15qt bin (thats what our smaller balls stay in) and use a UTH , no lamp because i think it might melt the bin over time (or at least weaken it and with the lid it would be pointless anyway) as always use a thermostat with the uth, depending on the size of your uth and bin will determine how many you need to use, before we had our rack only one uth was nessesary. then set it up the same way you would a tank (arrange water bowl, hide, probes, exc)

we use a 3in flexwatt strip running about 8ft long. i heat taped it down to a large plywood base until we get our racks, keeps the temps perfectly along with a little warming of the room.

How cold is your home kept? The bins are small (15qt) depending on the size of your UTH it should be enough heat to warm your hot side enough while giving your cool side a nice comfortable ambient temp. I never had to use more than one UTH per bin and our house ambient temp is always around 70. The one UTH as I said before was enough to make hot side ideal and keep cool side ideal as well. You could put two on it but if they are too large you might not be able to control cool side well enough, if you think its necessary to have two and can keep temps where they belong then thats great, im just trying to save you some power

Honestly if it were I, I would get a 32 qt and add an extra hide or so to size it down. That way you won't be buying a new enclosure for almost a year.

they are sooo cheap.. i say get the proper size enclosure then upgrade in a year or so. my 500+g girl is still in a 15qt and couldnt be happier.. my 900+g girl is in a 32qt. Why not just upgrade when its necessary

For someone with one snake, upgrading and throwing away enclosures is wasteful imo. I got all my balls in 32qts and they all started there from 100g to my 850g normal female. All of them eat fine. I just stated what I would do.
