    uncommon bp attitude

my little 7 month old bp, kensei, isnt anything i read about how ball pythons are supposed to act... she is super friendly ( yes i know theyre not mean snakes) but like shes super friendly.. she plays hide and sneak with me and my girlfriend with her hide.. since it has 3 openings.. she'll come out one end and then wait for us to pet her.. then she'll come out another and repeat the process untill finally... she gets bored and comes and slitthers onto our hands to pick her up... when we do that she'll sit in front of our nose and lick our nose..when we are just relaxing with her she loves to go around my girlfriends ponytail. im guessing because of the heat..

and a question... does anyone else bp's kinda stand up like a cobra and look around the room...
its not star gazing.. im sure of that.. cuz shes very active when she stands up and doesnt star upward or seem dazed...

just wondering.. cuz she looks funny when she does it.. thanks guys

    like this...

I have a couple that do this and some that do not. I just recently got a new little girl that wants nothing more than for you to hold her. The little guy in the picture will almost get half of his body in the air, its the funniest thing.

exactly like that.. haha ok cool i thought my snake was just a little slow in the head.. and the hyperness was just like sometype of ADD/ADHD haha

is there an explanation to why they put theyre bodies in the air...
at first i thought my little girl was doing it to make herself look like a cobra or to make herself look bigger and more scary.. but then she looks around as if shes looking for something...

She is looking for something. It's her way of getting up and seeing things better. Periscoping.

what types of things could she be looking for??

A sign of looking for prey? i havent realized if she does it more around when she needs to be fed.. since she does do it often..

maybe for warmth? but usually when she gets cold she just crawls under collar of my longsleeve button up jacket i have that i always wear around with her since she loves sitting under it..

Mine does this too. He'll get halfway out of his hide and then just stare at me while i'm on mycomputer. It's so funny.

I thought it was stargazing at first.

Well, even though BP's are predatory in nature, they are also preyed on. I can't tell you exactly what they are looking for, but I imagine its for movement, heat signals, and just looking around and getting an idea of what's happening around them.
