    Chances of Missing an Ovulation?

I have a female who was building between Feb 8th and 15th....She started getting dark yesterday, and is darker today. She's a high gold animal so it's easy to tell when shes about to shed

Here is her around that time

Was what I witnessed an Ovulation? or was that building and I somehow missed that ovulation after that?

I missed my first one. I had a female do the same thing she just kept getting bigger and bigger. I never seen the huge lump like that one site says. she was just huge. but I did palpate her recently and sure enough there are 7 eggs in there. so yeah i think its very possible to miss one if your inexperienced like me.

I have missed them before, sometimes they dont last very long. I would wait for her next shed and then start counting down 30 days for eggs(checking everyday). If she doen't lay start count down again after next shed.

i find its easy to miss ovulation if the female is large to begin with . 3000gram girls are hard to see a "swell" in. Missing ovulation isnt uncommon.

Maybe it's just me but one thing I've noticed is that when they are building follicles they look uncomfortably huge, the weeks following ovulation they look rather normal again but around their prelay shed they start building up that uncomfortably fat look again.
