    Transporting snakes to germany?

    Hi.

At first please excuse my english but i am from germany and just live here for a while.
Ok now to the topic,i have 3 cats and 3 Snakes(2 Corn and 1 ball python) and i won't leave here without them when i have to go back october next year.
Has anyone of you guys/girls any experience in transporting snakes via airplane and import into germany?
Cause everyone can help me with the cats but no one is able to answer my snake questions to my satisfaction.

THX for the help and great forum btw.

    Bastian

Your best chances at getting them out, is to do your Cites paperwork as soon as possible. This will allow you to export them to Germany legally.

Then, for shipping, you will have to find a way to also ship legally. I'm not sure on that part, but I would think Fedex can ship snakes over seas, as they ship them all the time.

Hopefully a breeder that has shipped overseas will be able to chime in for you...

There should be some kind of agency etc that issues the cites paperwork... Here in Finland it is the Finnish Food Safety Authority, there should be something similar in Germany.

When importing animals from US to EU you need an export permit from the exporting country and an import permit from the importing country. The same place that issues cites paperwork should be able to help with those.

If you're travelling with the snakes as pets, you will need to follow the airline's policies regarding pet proceedures. It's different if you're travelling with them at the same time, than if you're mailling them.

A lot of airlines do not allow snakes on passenger planes. So you will want to check the airline you are travelling on and see what their rules and regulations are if you are going that route. I guess too many people got a little crazy after watching Snakes on a Plane. I still haven't seen the movie, I heard it wasn't worth the money.
