    couple basic questions.

I read the links you provided about breeding. thank you.

    My questions are:

I know there is no exact answer. Please give me a "theoretical answer." There are some that keep the temperatures the same as always, and still breed successfuly. if you have a properly sized male and female, and you keep normal temps (80 on the cold side, 92 on the hot side with ampient temp of 84) ON AVERAGE how many breeding sessions does it take to get her Prego? Is it usually done on first attempt, or does it usually take several attempts?

when you put the male and female together, how long do YOU leave them together? can they be kept together for a week or two straight without harm to either snake?

Can breeding be dangerous? The male is 500 grams, the female is 1500 grams. does the male ever get hurt / killed by the female? are there any dangers I should know about?

If people are able to breed without changing temps, is it safe to say that BP's can be bread any time of the year? Can I try to start now, at the very end of feb?

    Sorry, lots of questions...

    Re: couple basic questions.

Some males and females need some extra stimulation to get going others dont. By stimulation i mean temp changes or low pressure systems. But ive heard that people have been successful not changing temps and just putting pairs together.

    Re: couple basic questions.

some people successfully breed with constant year round temperatures but i cooled my breeders. i really just use the natural seasonal drop in temp and put the breeders lower on the rack where the air temp is a little cooler.

i cycle my males for three days with the female and four days off unless they are still locked up past three days. during their four day rest i feed them and leave them alone.

i have never heard of females injuring or killing males but i am not as experienced with breeding as many others on this site and there may be risks. make sure your females are healthy and not overweight to reduce as many health risks as possible.

ball pythons will breed any time during the year so if you feel confident in your animals and yourself then go for it! research like crazy.

these quick answers are just my experience and there are many ways to do things as i bet other posters will gladly inform you.

    good luck!

    Re: couple basic questions.

do you remove the hides when breeding? or do you just use big enough hides for both to fit?
