Planning Ahead
My first breeding season will be next year if all goes well. I plan on breeding my 100% het pied normal male to a normal female and also breeding my spider male to a normal.
So if all goes according to plan I'll be expecting two clutches next year. The question is, what should I plan for? I have a mini fridge I could possibly turn into an incubator but my mother said I could have her freezer which is huge! So if I decide to go ahead and use the freezer, what do I need to do to it to make it into an incubator. Do I need to get rid of all the machinery and do I need to drain the freon (sp)?
And as for hatchling racks, if I am hoping for two clutches (thats if both girls lay) how many hatchling tubs should I have ready. I plan on buying a hatchling rack online so any suggestions are appreciated but so far I'm looking at racks from Reptile Basics.

That one ^ to be precise. If I am hoping for two clutches, how many of those should I get. One or two?

Yes, yes.
I'd say 20 to be safe, but probably unlikely.
You'd need two. One if you want to, but two to be safe.

Re: Planning Ahead
How do you go about getting all the stuff out of the freezer and how do you drain freon?

Re: Planning Ahead
Wow, thanks! Not to keep asking so many questions but why is it illegal to bleed out the freon by yourself?

Freon damages the Ozone! Depending on the state you live in it could require you to be licensed to work on any freon containing equipment. When I was in California it was like a $10,000 fine per offense if you did it, got caught, and didn't have a license. Also Freon is recyclible. It is a wonderful gig if you can get it. One person Pays you to remove freon from their frig. Another pays you to recharge their frig with the freon you took from the other guys frig and you charge him not only for the labor this time, but the freon as well! Gotta love those HVAC guys!

Re: Planning Ahead
I would take the compressor and fan out, there are just extra weight. The fridge fans usually cool down temps too much, a cheap computer fan works just fine and some flexwatt for heat a t-stat and your good to go
