Add more holes!

Re: Just got my first rack!
I have that same rack and I also had a little trouble with the humidity at first but I agree with PythonWallace - a few more holes wouldn't hurt. I have about 30 or so in each tub.

Re: Just got my first rack!
Lets see, I have 9 on each side as well as 6 on the front and back making 30 holes. Humidity isn't changing much, its right above 80. Water bowl is opposite the flexwatt right now. Any other ideas? Temps are cooling down at night time right now so it may get a little better. More holes? What's the best place in the tub to measure humidity? Thanks everyone for the replies.

Re: Just got my first rack!
humidity should be relatively the same through-out the tub, more holes in the front facing side, but id wait a week first and make sure its not just really high right now, check hot side temps, if its above 90 try getting it to 90 which is a good hot side temp and if your is higher it will help humidity.
Water bowl should always be at the cool end regardless of humidity.
I use 3/8th inch holes, if yours are little tiny ones then try making em 3/8th inch. about one inch from the top of the tub.

You can also try using water bowls with a smaller diameter. I've noticed that turning on a fan in the room can help too.
I wouldn't put too many holes in the tubs if you don't plan on using a space heater for the colder days. I received my rack in early January and when I set everything up, it was 94°F on the warm side and 68°F on the cool side so I had to go out and buy an oil filled heater before transfering my snakes to their new home. Needless to say, It was a very warm winter in my room

Re: Just got my first rack!
So after a lot of experimenting and some more holes, I got the humidity down to 55. There are a couple of heaters in the room, so I can always use those when needed. Thanks everyone for the replies, you were all very helpful!
