    Corn has refused two meals

Our little anery corn has refused his past two meals. I've heard of snakes going off their feeding schedule during the winter months but he did eat for us before and suddenly he's not interested. Temps are fine. Mid-upper 80's on one side, mid to upper 70s on the other. Waterdish, hides. Paper towel substrate. He'll become interested in it and move towards it, then turn and go the other way. He's such a little guy. When we first got him, he was 10g. He's taken 2-3 meals with us, pinkies and I just weighed him and he's 9g. Any ideas. We have fed him f/t and live before and these past two times we've tried to feed him, we tried f/t and then live and he won't touch either.

We are offering food once every 7 days. All snakes are on the same feeding schedule but we were going to start feeding this corn every 5 days.

When was his last shed? Also, I'd bag the little bugger over night with a pink. Put the bag back in his tank and close it up so if he gets out he's home already.

Some good suggestions. Try getting a live and leaving him O/N with the pinky in a deli cup. Put him in there before you go to bed and don't check on him until the next morning. You can also try a f/t and slit the head open; this helps sometimes (some will do it with a live, but that's too gruesome for me!).

Another thing that has worked very well for me is the "tuna juice" trick. Get a can of tuna and drain out all the liquid into another cup. Dip the pinky (either f/t or live depending on what you're trying) into the cup of "tuna juice" and try offering that in a deli cup over night.

His last shed was two weeks ago round about. I'll try one of these suggestions on Tuesday which is official feeding day and see what happens.

Thanks everyone. I'll post an update on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Some great advice all around. My girl went through the same thing recently. My best advice, other than what has been given, is to be patient. Unless you see signs of illness, try not to over-worry. Eventually he'll get hungry enough to eat.

Re: Corn has refused two meals

I don't know about corn snakes, but my ball python ate for me last night as soon as I dropped the rat in, and I fed him a pinkie 4 days ago. I left the rat in his feed cage with him, but the rat was in a closed paper bag.

Vincent picked up the scent, and when he started to go for the bag, I took it out and put the rat in, and 5 seconds later... dead rat.

Maybe he's just picky but we put a pinky in there with him today and BOOM! Wasted no time eating that thing!
