Smile Rescue Rosy that was given up for not eating ATE!

Love, a young Rosy Boa and newest addition to our collection, was given up as a snake that wouldn't eat. Less than one week at our house, and he has eaten a live pinkie mouse!

I have our Kenyan Sand Boa and Brian Barczyk to thank. We got our KSB from BHB at the Chantilly show last October. He wouldn't eat f/t pinkie mice. I emailed Brian; and he said that he was feeding live - putting the KSB and live pinkie in a deli cup and leaving it over night. In the morning, the pinkie was gone.

So I tried the same thing last night with our Rosy - in a Tupperware with holes for ventilation, in the tank to stay warm. After two hours, the pinkie was still kicking and the Rosy was still looking for a way out. I warned, "You're staying in there until morning or that thing is gone."

I got up this morning, and wa-la! It was gone. A happy Rosy emerged and took a few tours around the tank looking for more. Most likely, he could've put down three of those things, but I didn't want to waste. Next time, he'll get two.

I bet the person who had the Rosy before gave up after an hour or so. I guess you gotta go the long haul with live!

Thanks again to Brian Barczyk at BHB Enterprises and our KSB that made me ask him what to do. Sometimes, things happen for a reason.

Good for you.. I know that sand boas can be tough customers if they don't want to eat.. I guess rosy boas can be the same way.

I offered him two live pinkie mice last night. He devoured them both within 45 minutes. I'd say he's done with the hunger strike and settled in. He seems to be a very happy little guy, seeming to ask to come out - stretching for the top of the tank and going around in circles. I think I even see a smile on his face. I know there's one on mine!

    Hi,

Sounds like everything is working out just fine.

So are there further photography sessions in his future? Or do you want to wait till later?

Gotta love getting a snake for free because theres a "problem" but then when you get it there is no problem. I got one of my bps that way. they just bought it, had it for 2 months and couldnt get it to eat. I took it home, the same day offered it a hopper mouse and not even 2 secs after i dropped it in it ate.
Congrats on the snake hope it all works out for ya.
In the end, we will all die alone

Yeah, the first try was a bust. The second, he ate overnight. The third, was a feast! Hope it's good from here on out.

Here's the picture Derek asked for.

We've only had him two weeks and so far he's eaten three times - 1st a live pinkie mouse, 2nd two live pinkie mice, 3rd a F/T pinkie mouse! So he's already converted to F/T. Yeah!
