    Enclosures?

If you have yours in a bin or an elaborate tank with vines and branches, exc i would love to see your enclosure!!!

Ill post pics of Jaxsons tonight when i get home, his is pretty basic. a 15qt bin with a water bowl, aspen, basic hide and some nice branches lol.. until hes more than a noodle thats about how it will stay

how realistic is it to have a HUGE glass tank with elaborate branches, plants, exc for a full grown boa? pretty unrealistic isnt it? what size tank would you need? (like at least a 75gal wouldnt you?) and im talking just a common red tail, not a true red tail that gets HUGE

    Re: Enclosures?

Ok. First off, my BCC Suriname is 4 years old and is smaller than most of my three year old BCI's. So, don't believe too many tales of True red tails reaching so much bigger than Colombians. It's all a possibility. That said, something along the lines of this should suffice for almost any BCI or BCC...

This is plenty big enough and will give you enough head room to add in any ornaments you'd like to add in (branches, hides, etc). This is a boaphile, but there are others out there just like this. Animal plastics makes a similar one too. My opinion is there is nothing that beats a Boaphile Cage, but some would say otherwise...lol. It's all in opinion.

    Re: Enclosures?

Agreed, the 4' by 2' cages are great for adults. I'm planning on purchasing these for my females... but I will keep the males in underbed storage bins all their lives (unless they get to be monsters!).

Also, www.reptiletubs.com has a selection of tubs that come in large sizes... the VE series could house a boa---even a female---into it's adult life.

I think you can also buy these at the Container Store...

He could live in the 422 his entire life. They normally run $150-250 or so for just the cage (and depending what little knick-knacks you get along with it... say, a lock, a light, etc). You'd pay extra for the pedestal.

    Re: Enclosures?

wow, very nice as well as reasonable!

awesome. i would love to have a nice cage for him. the racks are perfect for the balls but we would like him to be on display when we get him his final home (not the bins where he will outgrow)

    Re: Enclosures?

yes, you certainly do! the little booger would rather bask in his personal jacoozi (remember back heat=warm drinking water) than come out and play.. hehe i was looking forward to holding him when i got home but didnt want to bother the prince during his bath
