What you need to do is look at what has changed.

Anything in his enclosure? Anything in the area around it? Your perfume? Is he in shed?

Or maybe it wasn't a change so much as a sudden movement that made him feel insecure and strike out defensively.

You might be able to figure out what caused the change in behavior.

Or it could be like Jasballs said. They are snakes... they do do that sometimes. They don't necessarily need a reason.

Over handling could cause stress, which in turn would cause a previousy calm snake to maybe act out and strike!

Sometimes weather fronts can affect their behavior as well. All in all, no one can tell you exactly why. Eliminate the husbandry factors, by double and triple checking.

Also an impending shed can make them feel vunerable. If none of these apply, then I'd say you're snake is just not too happy.
