I dont know about it costing 1k but I've seen some like that in stores for well over 100 dollars, some stores they're over 200. Great deal you found Jen! I can't wait to see pictures of it all set up!

Thanks! We got it at the "Dirt Mall" AKA, "Super Flea" in Cheektowaga NY. It's a big indoor flea-market where you can buy anything from lingerie to fake Rolex watches to toy airsoft guns. Guy there sells used/scretch-and-dent appliances, and my husband hit the jackpot when he found that he knows Mark's cousin, so I think he gave us a better deal on it
The only thing is, the second pane inside of this, of glass, is broken out. The outside pane is fine. I was a bit worried about it losing heat, but I see people all the time using what look like single-paned glass, or having single-pane windows/peepholes on their incubators. I don't see this as a huge problem; it is why this was so cheap. They said taht they could've switched the door on it and sold it for a couple hundred!

LOL. It is actually taped to the FW. I had this heating my hatchling rack but tore that down for the time being after only holding back 3 snakes..

Now I have a pressing issue! Is it OK to just use the glass shelving, or does it really have to be something that air can circulate through (like, metal, or flourescent-light grid stuff.) I do plan on putting in pop bottles filled w.water for heat retention (actually just got done filling those up!)

Go with wire rakes. Home depots carry it.. The air needs to circulate!

I know.. it is just going to make things more difficult Can't use the nice glass ones that came with it.. :/ I have a few metal ones but they are currently serving as lids for some extra rat tanks. See, we rednecks like to improvise.. Unless I use the glass for half of the tank (it is a 55g with a screen lid on the other side.. would give airflow..)
