Heres the question for everybody!
this is my first year breeding boas, Im a ball python breeder and decided to try to breed my 16 year old female BCI. She has been locked multiple times with a 3 year old male for the last 6 weeks. My concern is her heat source ! I have her in a melamine coated enclosure and have been using a cobra heat panel on the rear of the cage. She has no belly heat because of the wood based cage. I have a ceramic heat emitter and was curious if anyone has used this type of heat for gravid females. I know these emitters surface temp can be 300 degrees plus. I would be using a thermostat and it would be shielded for her safety. I really did not plan to breed her until I purchased a jungle male . I was cleaning racks and moving animals around and put the male in her cage temperarily and they were locked the next morning. I really wanted to have her in a vision cage before breeding . I was also considering a kane heat mat. She is totally healthy and not over fed and the male is a stud. All opinions would be appreciated !
