    How hot is too hot

this applies to all herps how hot of and ambient temperature is too much i was considering bringing warm air from outside in the summer to heat a herp room but i don't know how much is too much. for instance on the side of our house we have a gangway that stays around 80-90 degrees i was thinking of heating a room with that hot air

What are the temps at night? Also what are you keeping? For some herps that is to hot to stay at all the time. Also it is good to have a warm side and a slightly cooler side. And with many the temps need to drop at night. If you are planing to breed the method you speak is probaly not going to give you the temp range and change you need.

Re: How hot is too hot

hmm lets see here. temps dip to 70-80 F. humidity goes up at dusk. red tail boa in a 4x4x2.5 foot tank. not intending to breed, for a while.
mind you this is an ambiant temp not a tank temp this is to help things stay at the 80 degree range with the air conditioner on in the rest of the house. the room is in the basement i will have a solid 1 inch thick door with a towel in the gap beneath to allow for small amounts of air exchange so as not to heat up the rest of the house. this is just an idea and if i get the don't do it i will modify it until it becomes plausable
