yeah be very careful, there are a few breeders who claims they have hypo carpets but in actuality there are none in the US and possibly none outside Oz.

Yes. There are several people that claim to have hypos in the US but there is only one person that I now of that quite possibly has some. Other than that, none currently exist outside of Oz.
The true hypo coastals appear to be of a co-dom nature.

Hypo, as well as red hypo, are terms that some people used to describe their jags and get a bit more money for them. It was originally coined by the jag "founder". There is no genetic basis for hypomelanism in jags. They only appear hypo.

Thanks for clarifying. When I was keeping carpets, I constantly read about 'hypo' with respect to the jags and never quite understood. So when something is refered to as hypo jag it is simply a lighter looking jag...there is nothing genetic to the hypo. Kinda confusing terms.....looks hypoish, called a hypo, but not a hypo...ha ha....

personally i think the hypo jag line looks different than other lines... and sibs are pretty yellow; but they definitely arent hypo in the actual sense.
Mike, who do you know that has possible-hypo coastals? anyone from MP?
