really what are you using for heat??

I not sure if 11" is over kill or not. I am going to put sides on it and a back but i want to wire up the heat first.

What is your reason for not putting sides or back on. Easier access? I guess you really don't need sides or a back.

6 inch would be more than you would need. 11 inch would be way over kill. but 11 would only have to run a little bit compaired to 6 inch. but i be the difference in eletric would be the same.

if you put sides on you could insulate it. can you imagine. you would have one of the first eficent racks. LOL

do you think it would be wise to insulate it. I have some spare insulation from when i was remodeling my bathroom and kitchen. Do you think it would cause a fire hazard if I used it to insulate the rack? It think it is either R-11 or R-13.

    Re: build my first rack

Actually I got home today and decided i didn't like the way it looked and didn't need all the space for adults so I modified it to take smalle ones so I can have room for hatchlings.
