Should I be getting worried???

OK,

I got my first morph about two weeks ago, I didn't know about QT and put him in with my normal female and they ended up locking.

Once I found out about QT I pulled him out and moved his cage to another room. Now all he does is just sin in one corner and do nothing??? When i pick him up he is shy at first but then after about 5 min is Mr explorer and just fine?? Put him back in the cage and he is in his corner balled up??? I also tried feeding him serveral times and he seems terrifed of any mouse or rat I put in there?? I tried a F/t rat and he snifed and ran?? (panzy) he is frustrating me.

I didn't Qt any of my other snakes and they are all fine too?? (this of course was before I learned about QT)

Is there something that I may be doing that is cause stress on him? I have him in a 20gal tank, with a UTH, heat lamp, hide, water and aspen bedding. temps range from 75* night up to 85*-90* day.

His eyes were milky like 3 or 4 days ago. So he is in hes shed cycle right now so I have the Humidity around 50%-60%.

He is between 750g - 800g.

any thoughts or questions??


I am in the process of building a snake rack and want to get him in there ASAP. I also bought a rack from NSR too and that hasn't arrived yet.

Since you still have him in a tank, I will speak to the husbandry issues of it. I am hoping you meant to say that you have 2 hides, one on the cool side and one on the warm side. I'm also thinking you might have meant to say that while ambient temps get down to 75F, your 90-93F basking spot helps keep the cool side at about 82-85F. Also, I'm sure you forgot to mention that the UTH is controlled by a thermostat.
As for stress, probably all of the moving and the shed process has him a little off. Bump the humidity up to 68-70% during the shed process.
Yea on the rack coming. Temps and humidity ought to be a lot easier for you to control. Make sure you have a laser temp gun to monitor temps!

....you already broke quarantine, so why would you want to start quarantine? Since your other animals have been exposed to the new snake, does it really make a difference if you seperate it out now?

Sounds like the snakes been through alot in the two weeks you have had it. He bred a female, changed enclosures, was handled often, offered food several times, and is going into shed.

Did you give it any time to settle in?

I would take it easy and get those temps up a bit. Leave the snake alone for a week or so. Then see how things are and wait on the rack to arrive.

Leave him alone. Let him shed and then offer food after the shed. Let him digest for a couple of days on the nice warm basking spot. Ahhhhh; sounds good to me right now! While he's doing that, you can be getting the rack set-up and running with stable temps, etc. I'd move him too the rack after he gets finished digesting and the rack is stable.
