Hello all. Today I went and held my younger ball Python, Remedito. I hadn't handled him for a few days. He slightly hissed at me when I first picked him up, well, when I initially touched him at first, I think I just surprised him![]()
But as I was handling him, it sounded like he was letting out little puffs of air out. Kind of like a hiss, but a LOT shorter and softer. A little less than a wheeze. He's never hissed when I've held him and he was acting completely normal... except for the sound.
I got concerned because he continued to do it, about everytime he breathed out, so I looked at his nostrils, checked his mouth, etc, but there was no excess fluid of the sort. Also, he kept adjusting his jaw and yawning. I know ball pythons can yawn for no reason, but he did it a few times. His mouth was slightly opened BEFORE he yawned, but not constantly.
The room I have him in is warm, about 82 degrees me thinks, and I keep his humidity around 50%. Does this sound like a respiratory infection? Should I change the temp or humidity? Please let me know if you have any advice or knowledge!
Thanks for your help, guys![]()
