Should one get males or females?
Ok... all this breeding talk and excitement has gotten me thinking about picking up a pastel, cinny or mojo. My question is that if I was going to buy one of the codom morphs for breeding intentions... would I want to buy males or females? Does it matter? I am curious. Thanks

Well, if your trying to get 'supers', then youd need one of both male and female. But if your just looking to get 'regular' mojos or pastels ect. Then it really doesnt matter, but I would think that males would be better so that you could breed one (for example) pastel male to a few normals and get more clutches (hopefully) that way, insted of just one clutch.

Well it depends on what you want to produce. If you buy a male then he could breed several females. If you buy females they only produce one clutch a year.So its either multiple clutches or single clutch

I think it also has to do with what you already have and whether you'll be picking up a mature herp or a young/juvy herp. If you're getting a young one, I'd choose a female since they take longer to get up to breeding age and weight.

And it depend on what combos - if any, you hope to make. Say a pewter, you'll need a male or female pastel and the opposite sex cinnamon pastel. Decide which one you would want to be female (doesn't matter which is female or male) and get the female first, and you can get a male a little later, since he doesn't require as long to mature.

Re: Should one get males or females?
My goal is to get bumblebees, fireflys and a BEL so I bought a spider and a fire male and a lemon pastel female becuse the lemons are so much cheaper. So the plan is to breed the fire to a normal and produce some fire girls and then breed both the fire and the spider to the lemon in two seasons.
So figure out what you want and what your going for and buy what you can afford...

Hi,
Do you have any links to information on the firefly? I have never seen one and don't even know what goes into making one.
As a bit of a sci-fi geek I could be sold one on the name alone.

I started out getting a normal female and male pastel, this way we could make pastels and normals. were picking up a spider in april in hopes to make bees long term.. thats just what were doing. it depends on what YOU want to do long term
