not a good start to the new year

Well first of all i REALLY miss this place and talking to all of you.
So i will try to fill ya in as to my not being around here.
As some of you know i switched jobs and started my new job in november. And i switched so i took up alot more of my time, i was stilling cutting meat for aliving and i just wanter to show them how good i was and that i was there to stay forever. then i switched my cable pervider and when they came to disconnect they took my moden too( they werent supose to) well i was going to get direct tv internet but they said it's not in my area. so thats why im not on here.

ok so now on to yesterday and the title of my thread. well I thought every thing was going great at my new job they kept picking my brain for ideas on how to improve things in the meat department, and how my old employer did things.Never once did they mention anything about me not working out, or that my work was bad, or they didnt like me, NOTHING. then yesterday they called me into an office and said" your supervisor called and told us to tell you it's not giong to work out, and you can go now". they let me go with NO reason other then " it's not going to work out". so i had to make the phone call to tell my wife and kids that daddy doesnt have a job anymore. no health insuransce, no money coming in. This is such a helpless feeling, and what makes it worse is that like many familys out there we live pay check to pay check. and in retail this time of year they just arent hiring anyone.

So i dont want to but i might have to sell off my little collection, to make ends meet. and if i have to i will but, that is going to be hard because it makes everything more real.like i have to sell my stuff just to make it.

So, like i said thats why i havent been around here. i really do miss you guys alot. Im at my dads now look on the internet for jobs, so i thought before i do that i wanted to say hi and i hope all of you are well. and for those of you that have the means please keep in touch with me, and anyone that wants to feel free to get ahold of me also. i know Evan has my number so fell free to ask him.
Im not sure when i'll be back here, and what this does for a return trip to daytona do to i wont have any vacation time. so if something comes my way job wise and i can get back on track to get internet this will be my first stop.
and i will let some of you know if times are hard were i need to sell my snakes( i hope i dont need to)
i hope to hear from some of you soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that Joe. That's terrible about the job situation.

I will definitely keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully it's just the end of this year that sucks, and the New Year will bring something wonderful your way.

Hopefully something will come up for you. That's terrible to think everything is working out great and suddenly get booted without warning.
    Good thoughts to you.

Re: not a good start to the new year

Awww Joe!!! - First thing though - please go and get yourself signed up for unemployment - you contributed to it while you were working, you are entitled to that while you are looking for a new job. It's not a lot, but as Karl likes to say "anything beats a blank!"

I know all too well the desperate feeling when you find yourself unemployed - I went through a year of it shortly after 9-11. I survived 10 rounds of layoffs at my company until my time finally came.

I wish that there were more that I could do for you from here!

sorry to hear that! Things will look up soon I hope! They may have hired you just to find out dirt on your former employer... that's low.

Sorry to hear it but as Robin said get signed up for unemployment ASAP. It takes awhile to get it rolling but it does help.

Good luck on your job search.

Re: not a good start to the new year

Joe, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!

Just a thought: last year, I found myself in pretty much the same situation. I had lost my job, lost one of my best friends, and found out my husband had been cheating on me---basically all in one fell swoop. This all happened right around New Years and I found myself thinking: "Wow, if this is how my whole year is going to be... yuck."

Here I am, almost exactly a year later, and I am seriously so happy I can't believe it. I have completely turned my situation around. I have a job I love---a job that I wouldn't have taken had I still been stuck in the job I lost. I'm back closer to my family---I wouldn't have moved if I was still with my husband. I have some amazing new friends that I would not have met if I hadn't taken this job or moved back to Indiana.

I guess the short of it is this: sometimes, bad things are really good things in disguise. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and that, if you keep trying and keep a good attitude about life, everything will work out the way it's supposed to.

Good luck... and, even if it's difficult, keep smiling! We're all here for you!

P.S. I, for one, would be more than willing to hold on to some of your animals for you until you get into a better financial situation...
