Breeding in reptile room

Ive only got one extra room in my house whre all my reptiles except my iguana are and my 2 rats have been in the living room and I want to breed more rats and some mice. Has anyone done this in the same room as your reptiles? Will my snakes try to get out more or will they eventually get used to them? Is it possible they may refuse feeding after a while because they smell the rats/mice 24/7?

Currently my balls and rats are in the same room.

I don't have any problems with getting any of them out and handling them. They usually only try to see what is up on feeding day.

Needless to say I never have to prescent the room!

I am hoping to build my rat house in my backyard in the spring. Then I will have more room for more snakes!

But for now this works for me.

My breeder rats are literally 2 steps from my snake rack. No problems with snakes being more aggressive or always in feed mode. They know what day is feeding day.

Funny story............went to a pet store and asked for an adult mouse and some other various sizes of rats. I didn't check the bag and got home to find a fuzzy with his eyes barely open. Couldn't feed him off since he was too small so I stuck him in a 10gal. next to the snakes and he's a fata$$ now! Anyways, I swear.......ever since then, my snakes have fed better. So I don't think it would hurt and may even help with any "problem" feeding snakes......

None are more agressive than before but I have not had a refusal since I moved the rats in the same room.

i keep my feeder rats in a cage that sits ontop of my bp's cage and i never have any problem with her eating or tryin to get out more than when i fed her f/t

Feeding day for our snakes is Saturday. Saturday is also when I clean out the rat cages. The rats are in the same room as the snakes.

With it being feeding day, the snakes are already cocked and loaded, but with all that dust from the rat bedding in the air, they really get worked up.

There are quite a few hours inbetween cleaning and feeding, but the snakes all know what day it is. They calm down by night, but they don't hesitate, esp if they are a fat butt.

Any other day, it's just another day.
