very sick woma python
My Woma python I have had only a little over a month is very sick. I did what any responsible pet owner would have done, at the first signs of illness, some respiratory sounds, and a little excess mouth mucus, I took him right away to a herp vet. I found her through herp vet connection. I had only had him 3 weeks at that time. I had a culture done, which the first vet stated showed a staph infection. The Vet had me treat him with Baytril shots for 14 days, I thought he was getting better. Than, just the other day, I noticed some really scary barking noises coming from him. Also some squeaks. He had no visible mucus, and I didn't see any open mouth breathing, but I took him right away to another vet, because the one I had used before was not in, and I felt it couldn't wait. So, here's the news, I am waiting for another culture, but he has the beginning signs of mouth rot, ( why the other vet missed that I have no clue), and very serious pneumonia. The doctor told me, he might not make it. I am stumped how it could have progressed to this,as he was getting antibiotic therapy. Did the vet misdiagnose his illness to begin with? I am very strict of the temps, keeping the warm end around 92, cool end in the low 80's . Of course now, the vet told me to keep him even warmer. The new vet took x-rays, and a white blood cell count, he was much more thorough. He isn't acting very sick, even though I know he is, and actually seems very active, but I am sick with worry. It's 50/50 at this point. Anyway, just thought I'd get my saddness off my chest. Please pray for him.

I am very sorry to hear this! First an RI, and then stomatitis and pneumonia? I would be getting a hold of the seller about this. You may want to be very thorough in your record keeping and vet diagnonsis. I will keep you guys in my thoughts.

Iam very sorry to hear this and scared at the same time. My snake is showing signs of RI and I just got her 4 days ago at a pet store. I am very upset with them and they better pay for her vet bills. They said that I had a 14 day health garentee.....I don't want to exchange her I just want them to pay the vet bills.

SnakeLVR, I am so sorry! Good luck with any treatment. I hope he pulls through. Someone else in another thread somewhere (BP's?) was talking about using a nebulizer on snakes. And contact the seller you got him from. We are praying for him.

Contact the pet store right away and tell them. Document everything! Even who you talk to at the store. Good luck!
