    Moved into the big cage

Well, Nagini is finally in her RBI 4x2 cage. I spent all day setting it up, and it gave me a little trouble with the cool side being a bit too cool, but I put an Ultratherm pad and some foil under that side and now it's looking good. Lots easier to keep temps steady than that glass tank. I just hope it stays that way...

I also hope she doesn't get stressed out at all from the increase in cage space. I know she's still a bit small for such a large enclosure, but I stuffed it with greenery and hides to leave little open space. She has 5 hides (one in each corner and one in the middle, all cave-like), two small water dishes rather than one big one, two thick branches on the ground and lots of greenery to hide in. She's currently exploring, and doesn't look freaked since she's moving slow and steady.
I needed to move her out of the 20L because I need that tank for my Ghost corn, who barely moves because his tank is too small. And since I knew I wouldn't have the money for the big cage later, and had it now, I got the large display cage I wanted for her permanent cage and moved her in early.

I will get some pix of the cage tomorrow to see what everyone thinks. Thanks for reading the rambling.

Re: Moved into the big cage

You should be fine with the cage size. As long as you got hides and the right temps/humidity I have no problem with my snakes being in a 4x2 cage. My smallest is like 600g and has no problems. Got any pics of the set up??

I'll be looking forward to seeing the pics, always happy to see the cages over the rack setups.

Re: Moved into the big cage

Well, as promised here are the pix of the new cage.

    Full view

Left half closeup - cool side

SIGH... temps are still odd in there. It seems that plastic heats up a lot, but doesn't really release that heat well. The bare floor temps of either side are quite high, but as soon as the substrate goes on, they drop by more than 10 degrees. Oh well, as long as the ambient air and top of substrate temps are right...which they are.

Comments? Questions? Criticisms? All are welcome.

It really is a beautiful set-up! Congratulations, it looks like you put a lot of hard work into that.
