pig pellets

i curentley feed my mice and rats on a mix that i make but i am finding that there is alot of waste so i am trying to find a supplier of lab blocks but it seems that i will have to move to the us to do that...but i have herd of ppl useing pig pellets to feed their rodents and i was just wondering if any one had herd of this or dose it or fi there are any reasons not to

some one said something to me a while back
about iodine in the pellets but i am not sure if there is any thing in this

any help would be apreciated thanks

I have used "Blue Seal, Pig & Sow" grain with no adverse effects. It's only about $10 for 50#. The only drawback that I encountered was the small pellets do not sit on my feeding trays (it falls through) and it gets wasted. A larger block pellet (Mazuri Rodent Block) will sit properly in my tray and the rats eat only what they need and the rest stays in the tray until the rat is hungry again. Much less waste.

I think the best thing you could do is to compare the percentages of the ingredients of both mazuri/harlan against any other feed you may be considering. I don't know what's available in the UK, but you could surf some rat fanciers websites or forums and see if they have anything comparable.

I put down a layer of Rodent Chow on the screen and then put some Hog Food on top of that...It doesn't fall through as fast...

I also put a small amount of Hog Food in the box when I clean them.
