Racks heating question
So I sometimes see racks with uth used with the sweater boxes, but no heat light. Are heat lights not really needed? Do people who use those racks just heat the whole room? And how big are 32 quart sweater boxes anyway? I feel like a 55 gallon tank is as small as I really want to go with a adult bp, but I need some sort of system so I don't have 7 55 gallon tanks in my living room, and no other furniture!

Well Animal Plastic Racks come with three different heating options. You can have belly heat, or back heat from a cable or flexwatt heating strips. Thermostats are what allows the control of temperature. I believe that AP racks are the best on the market, and that helix thermostats go right along with them. I have two AP racks, and am getting a third tomorrow.

Cool, but gosh, I really want to be able to see my snakes.... Now what about the freedombreeders rack for boas that has the clear display windows? It's just over 2 grand and it measures 48x30x9.5 inches. That sounds okay in size, but does anyone have one? What do you think of it?

But your snakes doesnt want to see you! kidding, but really. Those FB's cost a lot. If you have enough money go for it. I would sugguest an ambient room temp and consant humidy with those bc they are open air racks. Meaning racks that are like those reptile tanks with screen lids.

You seem to be hung up on a large enclosure for your Ball Python. I just want to make a statement that I always think about when trying to etermine the size of an enclosure for a new reptile. What is the range of the animal in the wild? A Ball Python spends about 85% of it's life in a tight quarters rodent burrow or termite mound. So a Ball Python is typically fine in an enclosure that is smaller than one for a more mobile snake.
Hope that helps,
