    SuperBall = Blood X Ball

    Hey guys, I was doing some research, and i have been wanting to get a blood python after xmas, and then i was talking to someone on here if the blood and the ball were able to bump ugly's and actually produce something, and he gave me this link.
    http://www.roussisreptiles.com/colle...lls/super.html
    and I read that,I actually really like these guys, but i cant really find any out there or anymore info on it. So to those who know more bout these than me(alot of you do) and know any bout breeding these two pythons together please help me answer some of my questions of any input would be great. thanks.
    1. Any Possible issues to worry bout when breedig these guys?
    2. Whats the market like for these?
    What do you think bout the Super ball?
    Thanks Guys in Advance.

    Superball = Borneo short-tail Python x Ball python.....Not Blood python x Ball Python......

    I would worry about any issues that involve hybrids...genetics, ethics, and how other people think of hybridizing reptiles. Personally, I don't see the point. It muddies the waters and has some people asking questions like "what kinda hybrid is that" when they see a new cool 100% ball python morph. Eventually you end up with a bunched of mixed species animals out there and noone knows for sure if the animals are pure. It has happened with lots of other reptile species and always complicates things.

    I think the market for hybrids has to be pretty low, but who knows. Why would you want a hybrid ball python when there are so many cool morphs that are 100% ball python?

    In the greater scheme of things I understand why hybrids have a negative impact on the market... however I have no moral problem against creating hybrids. I personnaly love the superball as it has a distinct pattern, medium girth, with a slightly more agressive looking face compared to the puppy dog ballpython look. Just if your going to breed them, document them well and make sure if they ever change hands they are not misrepresented.

    most hybrids that I've seen have been microchipped, which makes identification much easier... but all it takes is irresponsible breeders to screw all that up...

    daniel contrary to your comment left on your negative rep to me, my question was not meant to be sarcastic and was only meant to represent the opinions out there other than your own. you may feel that there is no reason to own a hybrid ball when there are so many ball morphs out there but others may not have the same negativity towards hybrids as you and may enjoy the experience of caring for such an animal. try to understand that a response to one of your posts is not a personal attack and that it may possibly be the start of a discussion.

    and to answer your question that was also left on your negative rep towards me: i do believe that being a smarta$$ is not a Canadian custom. (although i could be wrong...)

    but i do appreciate your effort to try to educate youreself "aboot" your neighbours from the north.

    thanks!

    Wow, thanks for everyone’s input on it. I would love to get my hands on some awesome ball morphs, but the market is crazy high on them. I would love a albino Ball, but can’t spend 800 bucks on a snake. I wish I could, any and all morphs are just really pricey. Unless someone knows where I can get one at a good deal? Any help would be great. Thanks. Sorry for the Arguments that were started.
