    Bag of Snakes for 100$

Is this legit? I just found an old thread from last spring mentioning getting 25+ snakes for 100$ but there wild caught. I started doing a little google search and ended up seeing a list of the snakes. In this bag of 25 snakes only 11 looked to be typical 'wild' pattern snakes. I saw a lot of genetic strips and a lot of spider variations as well as a almost completely gold looking snake with random brown spots. Almost like a piebald but instead of white it was gold.

So at first glance I couldnt believe it and was like sign me up for 10 bags. Then the more I rolled it around the head the more I realised these snakes are probably being recovered by some unethical means. But I really couldnt find much against the cons of getting wild caught other than not knowing what you are getting and what kind of illnesses it might have. Other than that are there an ethical cons to this. And if not has anyone gotten one of these treasure bags. If so then where from? Let me know.

It is true you can buy lots of imports. But I'd bet my entire collection you wont find a spider or a g-strip. Weak pastel maybe, YB more likely, I've seen real Weak calicos, I got a het red axanthic from one. But Id bet that 99.999999995% of the time you'll get all normals

Sounds like a spin-off of the infamous "Ball Python Lottery," which was nothing more than a marketing ploy to sell mixed lots of captive hatched normals to unrealistically hopeful buyers such as yourself.

People, morphs carry a high price because people want them and I don't know of anyone in this business who would be dumb enough to intentionally give them away (with the exception of this one polish guy outside of Baltimore ).

If you really want a morph, save your pennies and buy from a legit breeder.

No one. Do a search on 'ball python lottery' and you can read all about someone's marketing campain to move out CH baby ball pythons right after they hit U.S. soil.

ha ha....for $100 you can get some actual morphs these days anyway....so why not buy a quality CBB animal instead of wasting time being sucked into someone's marketing ploy from last import season.

I'm really surprised anyone would consider buying wild caught bps. Even for the low prices, i wouldn't support the wild caught pet trade!

Re: Bag of Snakes for 100$

i know the guy from www.ballroompythonssouth.com does the lottery in like, August I think. . .I think its $150 for a bag of 10 "Wild caught snakes straight from Africa" and the way he explained it to me was "They come in in a crate full of bags of 10 snakes, then without opening the bags, they separate the bags into boxes and ship them out to the people who paid for the lottery". . .thats just what he told me over the phone, but if you're curious i'm positive you could jump over to his site and give him a call. . .I think his name was Michael Cole
