Hog Island Boa Questions
Hi, I am looking into getting a Hog Island Boa, and I was wondering if anyone had any good information about this snake. I can't find any good stuff on search engines because there are a bunch of different info. It would really help if anyone who owns one of these snakes to help me out and I would appreciate it.
Also if you have any pictures I would love to see them.

Take a look at this:
http://riobravoreptiles.com/boas_island.htm
Hoggs are the thrid article down. Gus is a great guy to get info from. All of his Hoggs are from animals he actually collected from the island.
I know young hoggies---and some adults---can be pretty hissy and nippy. But they'll calm down with regular handling.
Very beautiful snakes... orange, orange, orange! And they stay fairly small... smaller than columbians, anyway!

Re: Hog Island Boa Questions
Yeah one of the reasons I'm getting a Hog is because they get smaller that Columbians.
I'm okay with the biting and hissing and stuff like that, it's all worth it, they're nice looking snakes.
Thank you very much for the input, I'll take a look at that site.

Hogs are not as easy to handle as a larger Colombian would be. They can be flighty and wiggly and temperamental. A large colombian will be much easier to handle than a Hog will be. That said, they need the exact same requirements as a Colombian BCI would for husbandry and such.

Re: Hog Island Boa Questions
oh okay, the ones at my local reptile store are both tiny females and they're $350, but I don't know what the difference is between canadian and american dollars is, but I get a discount there anyway

Re: Hog Island Boa Questions
According to the currency converter $350 Canadian = $345 USA.. so they're a bit pricy.
