fat a$$ snake
i have a male bp which only weighs 600 grams or soo hes a small guy i feed him 2 adult mice a week (well adult according to petco) do you think this is enough he always seems hungry hunting around in his tank for food. He is also getting quite nippy. Hum and temps are good and he has plenty of hides. he has been like this for the past month or soo just wondering if it could be food related or maybe he just doesnt like me lol.

Re: fat a$$ snake
i just walked by his tank right now and i heard a loud whack. I appears he doesnt like glass very much. lol. Im just worried because he used to just be a scaredy cat but now hes just down right vicious. Normally when i fed him he would retreat to his hide and i wouldnt see him for a day or 2 now i feed him and he roams around for hours and hours.

Re: fat a$$ snake
no he shed about 2 weeks ago. When i walk by his tank he follows me and moves rather quickly like when you drop a mouse in their tank and they smell it but cant see it. Its just strange thats all health wise he looks fine.

Re: fat a$$ snake
They grow just fine on mice or rats. Sometimes they go through a growth spurt and will stay long and slender for awhile, before filling out. 2 mice a week is just fine, especially if it's a male. All 35+ of mine are on mice(1-4 depending on how big they are and if they are preparing for breeding). They grow and reproduce wonderfully. The adult females have gained all of their weight back plus some, and they laid late clutches this year(May/June).
When they go through those growing periods, they look odd. Just long and gangly, like teenagers They fill out after awhile though.
And no worries, both of my Yellowbellies are spitfires and won't hesitate to strike at the front of the tub at me.

Re: fat a$$ snake
i dont know man. that just seems a little small to me. mice arent that big. i mean even two is prolly still less than a small rat. just find something close to the same width of your snake. if its the same "fatness" as a small rat chances are that it could take it. but that said rats can be a little more aggressive than mice, and might want to consider some sort of euthanasia method. just my :2cents:
