    misting??

    Hi guys

i'm afraid i have another question to ask. As i have been reading as much as possible about the care of BP's before me and my husband get one, i have got a little confused again.

Some sites say that spraying mist is not needed, some say every once in a while (mainly when shedding) or some say that it must be done every few days to weekly???

what do you do?? thank you again

I mist during shed, although I think it depends on your setup and substrate. I know some substrates are more prone to mold, but I use newspaper which has never been a problem.

It really depends on your caging setup. Glass tanks with overhead lights and mesh lids tend to be very dry so you are likely to have to mist a lot. Glass tanks with undertank heating and custom lids, not so much. Plastic tubs, likely only during shed cycles.

Yep, as has been said, it's based on your setup. I have an insulated glass tank with a UTH on each side and small day and night lamps a foot above the cage and most of the time I can keep my humidity around 50-53%. Now, though, because CO gets really dry in winter, I have to mist her cage about once or twice a day to keep it above 47%.
