Do you play....
Do you play a musical instrument?
I am looking for someone in particular that plays violin. Can you give me an idea on the cost for a 'beginner' violin? Is there such thing as renting a musical instrument as well?

cool, thanks for the tip on looking in the yellow pages. I've tried googling it and go the history of, what it sounds like, local makers, blah blah blah. I never thought to actually open the phone book...man sometimes us and these computers..........
edit: How long have you been playing?

Oh sweet...I opened the yellowpages, found rentals, found someone in an area I know and even passed before, they have violin rentals for $16.00 plus a $4.00 maintence package. How cool! Yeeee I am so excited.
On a personal note, I've been trying to become more scholarly if that's the right word, with the world. Dreaming dreams then making attempts to catch them. I want a fufilling life and to be able to tell my grandchildren, I played violin, or I learned how to crochet, or I can bike so many miles. It's a great feeling guys, to make plans and then even take baby steps towards them. Even if it's just researching something...it feels really good. :c)

FYI is For Your Information. And a recorder is a plastic piccolo type thing. Kinda like a flute but you play it vertically instead of horizontally. Us children in NE Ohio played it in elementray school. Drove our parents crazy......heh heh.

Re: Do you play....
once you get your violin, get some lessons. i started playing violin in 5th grade and played in an orchestra all through high school. the thing that helped the most was private lessons, although i most enjoyed playing in quartets and in regional level orchestras that were more advanced than my school's orchestra too. it's not an easy instrument to learn but once you start picking it up it's a lot of fun.
if you rent for a few months and decide you really like it you should be able to buy a beginner level violin for $200 or so, which i'd highly recommend over renting once you think you are going to stick with it. of course, once you pass the beginner playing level you can start looking at the $10k+ violins...

Im going to buy a les paul standard sometime this year. I also limp my way around a drumset for fun but id never call myself a drummer. But I dont know where to get a violin.
