You call that a feeder!? (D.U. Warning)

My wife and I went to the Columbia reptile show a couple of weekends ago (where I met the wonderful Emily who I plan on buying a crestie from when I am ready to add one to my collection because all of her animals looked top notch!) and we picked up some feeders. I got home, feed off the mice and pinkies then got to the 3 weanling rats. I fed one, and then noticed something odd about one, after looking closely I noticed, this wasn't just any rat, but a dumbo! I have bred rats before but when Ashley got pregnant I got paranoid about having them in the house (due to the sickness they can care that can cause birth defects in babies) so we feed off all that we could and adopted the rest out as pets. With our due date just a couple of weeks away we decided we'd start breeding again soon after Riley's birth and we decided that since we were going to start anyway, we'd keep the dumbo. That being said, I got ready to feed off the next feeder and put him in with one of my females. She struck and for some reason let go. The rat, obviously spooked and the female apparently not being interested (turns out the next day I checked on her and she was in blue, so maybe that's why?) I took the rat out and put him in a cage with the dumbo. Either way, looks like we've got two males rats now. Here are their pictures.

I have a dumbo male as one of my breeders. My snakes love the dumbos just as much as the normal rats....

Two dumbos in a feeder lot... that is like getting two prizes in your box of crackerjacks...

    Dumbos are always too cute.

I love Dumbos, but it has come to the point where when the food comes, it is food.

I have held back too many rats already for breeding cause they were cute..

Re: You call that a feeder!? (D.U. Warning)

Thanks everyone, I know snakes will take dumbos just as easily as a normal rat, I was just surprised in getting a feeder that I got a dumbo. I would figure most people would save them and try and sell them as they can pull in a little bit more as a pet then a normal rat would, and definitely more than a feeder.

Oh, also bruce, The second two pictures of the other rat, he's a normal, just currently have him because the snake struck and let go and lost interest. Now we're kind of getting attached to him :-p

Re: You call that a feeder!? (D.U. Warning)

I get dumbos in the feeders pretty often.
I guess there's only so many ratties you can sell as pets, even if they are dumbos.
