    Quantity of feeders

when you get feeders how many do you typically get at a time?

We got 400 crickets for the two dragons and aside from what the ants have destroyed the dragons are cleaning them up nicely..
I also picked up three mice (now two since she ate) for our one ball python and was wondering how many feeders you all typically get per animal at a time to save trips to the pet store/suppliers

F/T or live? I hear most people will grab enough for a few weeks when live. But for frozen, we fill up the box because shipping costs the same, might as well fill it up. (Through rodentpro.com)

    Re: Quantity of feeders

I'm so spoiled. My friend that is a snake breeder, and also owns his own pet store, is in a town between the one I live in and the one I work in. I just stop by in there every Saturday and pick up my feeders, and any breeders he's rounded up for me as I'm starting my own rat colony. That way I can get my feeders, and shoot the breeze with him all in one stop.

    Re: Quantity of feeders

Well, I had picked up live just because it was readily available.. Either answer is fine, just curious either way. I can understand how buying in bulk would make sense

I go to the pet store I used to work for, so I get to chat with my former coworkers/bosses.. For the crickets, I get them right from the breeder whom I bought my animals from.. he isnt always available though which is why i get a few hundred crickets at a time.. we could get 1,000 but thats sooo many I just dont need that many at one time, by the time they are all eaten they have gotten too big.

    Re: Quantity of feeders

I am producing all my feeders, some are fed of right away some are stored in the freezer.

If I fall behind on my production due to my planning I order 100 to 200 feeders at the time (I have 22 snakes)

    Re: Quantity of feeders

I used to buy live rats once a week to feed with. F/T mice/rat/chicks I but from RodentPro so it's what fits in the box. As many as will fit, that's what gets ordered.
Crickets I always bought in 1000 ct boxes at reptile shows, mostly. I just kept them in a plastic keeper with a mesh top. But I wasn't worried about the crickets getting too big, it was a tegu eating them. Full size crickets were fine.
Mealworms/superworms same as crickets, bought 1000 ct boxes.
    Hope this helps.

    Re: Quantity of feeders

I breed most of my feeders, but when I need to pick up extras if I'm short, the pet store is less than a mile away from me, so the trips aren't out of my way.
